What is your role at SkyKick?
I am Senior Director of Product Management for our Scale Business, and my team is on point for working with larger SkyKick Partners that want to use our Syndication or Developer products to go faster by integrating SkyKick platform into their technology stack.
How is your role a perfect fit for you?
Before SkyKick, I worked at Microsoft in a wide range of roles- Product Development, Planning, Marketing, etc. This prepared me to understand and manage the many aspects that are integral to managing product development at scale in the Cloud.
Product Management at SkyKick requires me to exercise these and many previously undiscovered muscles on a day-to-day basis and be a true business owner of our scale business. And SkyKick’s team of really smart people empower product success with stunning agility, collaboration, and execution velocity.
What is the most challenging part of your position?
SkyKick is growing very rapidly, and managing that growth, in terms of balancing the needs of multiple initiatives while being mindful of the team’s capability, is probably the toughest aspect of my role.
What is your proudest moment in your professional career?
One of the first things that the team did was build our Developer Portal, where we have taken all the capabilities that SkyKick has and have broken them into their atomic bits, allowing our Scale Partners to build on top of our capabilities. Check us out https://developers.skykick.com/.
We continue to onboard new partners and build on top of our Developer Portal, and I am super proud of the work that the team has done here.
How do you maintain a good work-life balance?
I manage every aspect of my life by setting up goals and priorities, very similar to how I balance the needs of multiple stakeholders at work. A way that has worked for me is by setting long, medium and short term goals for all aspects of your life. I would encourage folks to check out this Medium post that I did on this very topic a while back.
What else can you tell us about yourself?
- Interesting fact: I used to be an officer in the merchant marines and travelled to 33 countries in 2 years.
- Superpower choice: Time Travel. We live in exciting and changing times, and I am a massive technology geek. I would use my superpower to travel to the time we will have a flying DeLorean.
- Favorite pastime: Mountain climbing. Last season, I climbed Mt Rainier and Mt Adams. Next year, I am planning to climb Mt Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe.
